Due to bus cancellations and the fact that students who take the bus would have to find another way into town to attend the luncheon, the luncheon is cancelled. It will not be rescheduled for next week since there are only two days of classes left before exams and it is important for students to attend these classes in preparation for exams.
Co-op students are required to call their employer / supervisor this morning to let them know the above information

We are now over half way through our cooperative education work placement! You have all chosen which Independent Study Unit (ISU) you will be working on for the remainder of the semester. The first deadline will be on Dec 13th, which is our next in-class. At this point, you will be assessed on your progress of your ISU. Be sure to discuss your ISU with your employer, as they will not only be interested in what you are doing, but may be able to provide valuable insight to your work.
After having reviewed "how to complete a log-sheet" again, the expectation is that all of you will try to reflect and give detailed log sheets to improve your quality of work. If you were not able to grab the most recent log sheet, you can Download Log sheet 8 here.
Enjoy your week!

Welcome to week seven! This week, and perhaps the week following, you should be expecting your second visit from your coop teacher. A picture will be taken of you working, and we will discuss the progress of your work on the job, as well as your log sheet and journal writing. Reminders this week are:
1) return your coop apprentice permission form, signed by your parent/guardian (if you are in an apprenticable trade) ** this is NOT registering you for OYAP, only entering you into the MTCU database** ; and
2) fill in your log sheet and journal for the week Download Log sheet 7 ; and
3) note that the next integration session is on Monday November 15th. Remind your employer you will not be at work next Monday; and
4) your CAREER ASSIGNMENT is due on Monday!!!

This week, you should be receiving your coop visit #2 appointment slip in your mailbox. Please have your employer confirm the anticipated date and time, and return it to your mailbox asap. Be reminded that on this visit, we will be observing you work. Please indicate any safety wear that your teacher may require to participate as an observer. We will also try to capture you on film, by taking a photo of you while you work, for your final project which we will be discussing next in-class. This week's log sheet can be downloaded here. Download Log sheet 5 Enjoy your week!

Great to catch up with all the coop adventures to date. Most students have had their first coop visit in, and all will be completed by the end of this week. Please, again, be reminded that you must complete your log sheet in detail, as it is a record of what you are doing each day for both WSIB purposes and potential OYAP placements. The latest assignments have been distributed in class. Your NOC career assignment is due on November 15, our next in-class. Hope to catch some parents out on Parent Teacher night, Thursday October 21. Have a great work week!
