Girls Field Hockey

The Salukis Field Hockey team finished their Huron-Perth Regular season yesterday in Mitchell, playing against a strong team from South Huron.  The team came out sluggish in the first half, and found themselves on the defensive for most of the half.  The second half proved to be much better for the girls, as they came out strong and played hard. Cheynne McLean played an excellent game, moving all over the field to help out.  Kelsey Robinson and Stacey Frayne helped control the middle of the field.  After giving up two goals in the first half, Ashley Hibbert and her defensive unit held off the attacking Panthers, and did not allow a goal in the second half.  The game ended in a 2-0 loss for the Salukis. With yesterdays loss, the team finishes in fifth place, just missing the playoffs.

The team is commended for their strong play throughout the season.   Despite some tough competition against more experienced teams, the girls never fell behind by more than 2 goals.  Their season record ended up as 1 win, 3 losses and  2 ties.  The Salukis will miss our graduating players while also looking forward to another strong season next fall.
