Junior Girls Soccer
The junior girls soccer team began their season yesterday with a very tough two games against St. Mike’s and Stratford Central. However, the girls were up to the challenge with a 2-1 win over St. Mike’s and a nil-nil draw with Stratford Central.
The girls were dominant against St. Mike’s and were unfortunate to be down at half. However, a quick response by Daniek Donkers leveled the game, and Sarah Edye scored to game winner off of a brilliant cross by Kelsea Schaefer. The players of the game were Lara Middleton and Nicole Barber who both were dominant on defence, shutting down the St. Mike’s attack.
In the second game the girls faced off against and very strong Stratford Central team. It was an outstanding game as both teams played a very balanced game. Neither team could crack the other’s defence and the game ended scoreless. Lindsay Cubberly controlled the middle of the park, making outstanding tackle after outstanding tackle; while Kelsey Robinson was the player of the game, controlling the penalty area and making several huge saves.
