Senior Girls Soccer
The senior girls' soccer team improved their Huron-Perth record to 6-0 with a pair of wins in Listowel on Tuesday. The team came out sluggish against St. Annes in their first match of the day. After an unfortunate "own" goal, the team rallied with three goals. A beautiful cross by Lauren Stacey was knocked in by Candra Staffen. Stacey scored again for the Salukis, and was also credited with a goal that was put in by a St. Annes player. The final score of the game was 3-1.
In the second game against Listowel, the girls came out flying and dominated the play. Midfielders Katie Curtis, Brittany Sterkenburg, Claire Jackson and Nicole Meta controlled the field and created many scoring opportunities. Candra Staffen used her speed to score on a breakaway, while Nicole Meta scored on a corner kick, giving the Salukis a 2-0 victory. Goalie Sarah Kennedy played well in both games, making some aggressive saves.
The team takes on St. Mike's and Stratford Central on Monday at home. Game times are 9:00am and 2:30pm.
