Class of 2011 Valedictorian



I am very pleased to announce that the class of 2011 has elected Dante Pieroni to be their Valedictorian.  Dante is an enthusiastic student and a talented athlete.  He is friendly, compassionate and articulate, all of which make him an excellent choice to speak on behalf of his class at our commencement celebrations this coming October.  Dante is an exceptional young man, and a member of an exceptional graduating class.  Congratulations Dante, and all of DCVI's Class of 2011!  We are proud of you!

Friendship Games

Just a small sampling of the great things students at DCVI can do when they pull together as a caring community!

Photography Club - "Unframed 2010-2011"

Students at DCVI had the opportunity to join a photography club with a difference, the club was all online!  Teacher mentors from across the province provided challenges and feedback to students who were members of the club.  DCVI had the most student members however students from across the province were eligible to participate.  The group used the photo webservice Flickr.  The slide show below is a sample of the photos in the Flickr "Unframed 2010-2011" Group.  Not all the photos are by DCVI students, but it gives you a good indication of the type of photos that the students take, and are exposed to from the teacher mentors.  Enjoy!

Athletic Banquet

With 165 athletes, families and coaches in attendance, the 2011 athletic banquet was a success.  Guest speaker, David Willsie, cousin to Ms. Fletcher, was the guest speaker.  He humourously recounted highlights of his life and sporting career via a slideshow that Ms. Fletcher had assembled.  A summary of the major award winners of the evening are highlighted below.

Google Accounts

A couple of students have asked me if their Google account (@ed.amdsb.ca) will remain active over the summer.  The answer is YES.

Student Google accounts will stay active for the entire time you are a student at DCVI.  Students who are not returning to DCVI, your Google accounts will be de-activated (likely in August).  Students who are not returning to DCVI and want to keep documents in Google Docs, should share the document (and then make a copy) with a Google Account that they have made themself, if they want to continue using Google after leaving DCVI.

Student Council Carnival
